  • What's the tour like?

This bike ride is suitable for people who would like to experience the highlights of Bali that most tourists miss! Your guide and driver will pick you up at your hotel and accompany you for the three days of cycling. You will be driven up to Mount Batur where you can enjoy spectacular views overlooking the volcano. Expect one of Bali's most amazing views.

Suitability: This trip is recommended for riders who enjoy and have some off-road experience, but you don’t have to be an expert to get the best out of this trip. This tour is mainly on jeep trails and single track. While the off road riding is not that technical, some experience is recommended. The support vehicle cannot always follow but will meet the group at certain points along the trail.

Biking Conditions: You'll ride 95km (59mi) in two full cycling days and one half day on this moderate mountain biking tour. You'll ride on single track in between rice fields and on small countryside roads through quaint local communities.

  • Am I safe?

The tour leader is trained in first aid and emergency rescue. But to a large degree, riders must be responsible for their own safety during the tour. It is therefore compulsory that you take out travel insurance that will cover you for a cycling tour.

  • Where does the tour start and finish?

The tour starts with a pick up from your hotel in the Kuta or Legian area. It will finish in the same area or your can be dropped off at the Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS) if you have an onward flight.

  • Do I have to pay if travelling alone?

You are not required to pay a surcharge for travelling alone. The tour operator will arrange for you to share accommodation with another traveller of the same gender. If you cannot be matched, they will provide a single room at no extra charge. If you prefer not to share, a single supplement is payable to guarantee your own room.

  • Can I rent a bike for the tour?

A Trek 4700 mountain bike is already included in the tour price.

  • Is there a minimum age for this tour?

Yes, riders must be 18 years old by the time the tour departs.

  • How many riders will be in the group?

Groups can range from 2 - 16 riders. For groups of 9 or more, a second guide joins the tour.

  • How long is the tour? How many days of riding?

This tour is 3 days with cycling on each day.

  • Are helmets included when hiring a bike?

Yes, if you're hiring a bike from the operator, a complimentary helmet is provided, although you are welcome to bring your own if you wish.

Overall Rating:
Fantastic way to experience the 'real' Bali

Just a note to let you know of our experience in Bali on our Bali Explorer 3 day mtb tour. We were met early (every day our guides were early) by the smiling face of Mr Edy (Kadek Edy) and driver / mechanic Slamet. The vehicle was clean and comfortable, and both guides were happy, polite and informative, while giving us quiet time too. The bikes were good, super clean and in great condition, and cleaned and serviced every night. The routes chosen worked very well, with great variety of terrain and experiences, breaks and interaction with locals. A fantastic way to learn local culture and see the "real" Bali. A truly superb highlight of our trip. We recommended Mr Edy to our friends who also had a great day with him. His knowledge, personality, skill at "reading the play" offering variety in the day's ride and personalizing our tour made our three days unforgettable, for all the right reasons. If you have Mr Edy's all over the world you are on a winner.

A great experience with excellent guides

A fantastic way to experience Bali and its culture. Exploring by bike takes you to sights and scenery you would not see if sightseeing by car or coach . Our tour guide was Eddy and he made the trip so successful and enjoyable through his professionalism, his knowledge of the areas we were riding through and his patience. Nyoman is an extremely safe driver and both Eddy and Nyoman were extremely careful in their decisions of where they would park bus and set up bikes etc. I just want to say that my husband and myself had a fantastic cycling tour. It was the first time we have ever done something like that and being in our mid to late 50's we were a little apprehensive but Eddy was so patient and always reminded us that it was our holiday and we could cycle at our pace. The accommodation was excellent and all in all it was a great experience.
