Itinerary Details

  1. Day 1Arrive in New Delhi

    Meet at a hotel in New Delhi to check in and have enjoy a welcome dinner.

  2. Day 2Fly from New Delhi to Leh

    Transfer to the domestic airport for an early morning flight to Leh. You can take it easy the rest of the day to acclimatize to the sudden change in altitude of 3,500 m/11,480 ft. Go for a slow walk around Leh to visit the ruined Leh palace or the market for Tibetan antiques, Chinese silk, Buddhist ornaments and silver jewelry.

    Note that the airfare for the return flight, New Delhi – Leh – New Delhi, is not included in tour cost.

  3. Day 3Leh – Stok – Thiksey – Leh

    After a short transfer, the Stok Palace Museum will be visited after which you can try out your bikes and lungs with a ride to the Stakna and Thiksey monasteries. The group will transfer back to Leh and meet up again for dinner.

  4. Day 4Leh – Nemo – Likir

    After an early breakfast and  transferring to Nemo, you'll start cycling along the Zanskar River, through a spectacular gorge to Chilling for a raft down the river on Grade 3 rapids. If you would rather ride than raft, the road back to Nemo is an enjoyable 15 km (9.3 mi). Transfer to Likir.

  5. Day 5Likir – Nemo – Leh

    Transfer to the top of Tsermachenla for a fantastic roller coaster ride back to Likir on a dirt road for the first section and then tarmac. Stop at a monastery with a huge Buddha statue before continuing the downhill blast to Nemo. Transfer to Leh where you are free to try one of the many restaurants in town for dinner.

  6. Day 6Leh – Sakti

    Today's trip to the Nubra valley begins with a gradual climb up through a valley to the village of Sakti. The road leads you up a valley past houses scattered amongst farmland and past a small stream lined with willow bushes as you cycle to the clean and fresh countryside. You will meet a few odd jeeps and maybe one bus, otherwise there will be no other traffic. Looking ahead you will see the destination, Warila pass.

  7. Day 7Warila Pass

    It's an early start for the long and steady climb to the top of Warila pass (5,195 m/16,972 ft). It's a challenging climb where you'll be rewarded by stunning views of the surrounding mountains. Down the other side you'll cycle through the large villages of Tangyar and Khyungru where  they have seen very few foreigners as this road has been open for only five years.

  8. Day 8Shyok Valley

    Today the downhill blitz continues, passing traditional Ladakhi homes, before climbing gradually to the village of Khalsar. Here the route joins the Karakoram highway into the wide and fertile Nubra valley.

  9. Day 9Hundar – Turtuk

    Today you will cycle the longest distance during the whole trip, but the ride will be through valleys so there are no steep climbs. The landscape changes to sand dunes as you cycle towards Hundar and then on to the Muslim village of Turtuk, which belonged to Pakistan until the 1971 Indo-Pakistani War.

  10. Day 10Turtuk – Khardung

    You'll have a day off the bikes today. After a leisurely breakfast, the group will transfer back to Khalsar for three hours. Camp will be setup in pastures close to the North Pulu check post. It’s a good road all along – huge rocky spires and amazing rock formations as you drive up and see the road snaking its way around the mountainside.

  11. Day 11Khardungla Pass – Leh

    Many switch backs will take you up to the top of Khardungla pass (5,359 m/17,582 ft), the highest point of the trip. After soaking in the amazing views of the valleys and snow-capped peaks it's an exhilarating downhill for 39 km (24 mi) to Leh.

  12. Day 12Leh – New Delhi

    Today it's off to the Leh airport for the flight back to New Delhi and then transfer to the hotel in the city centre.

  13. Day 13Tour of New Delhi

    The local guide will take the group on a tour of New Delhi, visiting the top sites of the Red Fort, Chandni Chowk and Qutab Minar. Meet up for a farewell dinner.

  14. Day 14Departures

    Travel home or stay and see more of incredible India.
