Starting early to soak up Hoi An’s captivating charms

The historic city of Hoi An is a traveler’s dream and is perfect for exploring, particularly on a bike. A cultural melting pot, the town blends a mixture of cultures such as French, Japanese and Chinese. This is reflected in the various styles of architecture. Its superb location by the river with a nearby beach and countryside makes it a tourist hotspot.

If you start early, the streets of Hoi An can be serene and that's just what you'll do on this tour. Meeting at 7:15am sharp at the tour provider's shop, you'll have a bike fitting and a run through of what special treats are ahead on this adventure. After being kitted up, set off at 7.30am and soak up the magnificence of Hoi An without the tourists. Cycling along peaceful back streets, the local guide will highlight the historic and cultural sites before heading out of town towards My Son.

Cruising out of the city and into Vietnam’s picture perfect countryside

Having crossed Hoi An’s picturesque river, point your bikes in the direction of the ancient Cham ruins that lie at My Son. But to reach this mesmerizing spot you must first ride through the sprawling Vietnamese countryside and boy, what a treat that is. While the tour of My Son may be the main event the journey this is half the fun as you get to view a real slice of Vietnam outside of the main towns.

Skidding down back streets and rural paths you'll scarcely see another vehicle as you pedal through small villages and past seemingly never-ending rice paddies. The locals here are some of the most welcoming you will ever see as they wave, smile and encourage you on your two wheel journey. This insight into authentic Vietnam is truly as memorable as the tour of My Son that is to follow.

Fueling up before touring the mesmerizing My Son ruins

It’s time for you to fuel up with a healthy snack of fresh fruit and a warm beverage. Feeling refreshed you'll take a short transfer to the UNESCO World Heritage site.

My Son is home to the ancient center of the Cham Civilization which once ruled large swathes of south and central Vietnam. Here lies an ancient collection of Hindu temples, though many now lie in ruins following the severe bombing that Vietnam endured throughout the years. However, what remains of the temples and towers makes for an almost spiritual and mystical atmosphere when wandering around. It's a compelling tour particularly when you learn that descendants of the original tribes still remain in the region.

Heading back to Hoi An

After a stunning tour around the ruins, it is time to head back to Hoi An and round off what has been an incredible half day of adventure together. You'll take a private van back to the town and finish the tour by approximately 12:30pm.
