Itinerary Details

Out of town into the peaceful North

Just a short hop east of Chiang Mai you head away from the tourist trail and into fertile valleys that offer inspiring views and mountainous horizons not seen from the city. After a short drive from the city you start your bicycle exploration of Sankampaeng and the beautiful, peaceful Lanna countryside. This one day 34 km (21 mi) ride takes you out to tranquil places where rice is grown and the Buddhist faith is integral to the lifestyle of the people. Visit a market where the fresh produce is artfully displayed. You’ll pass by temples where you can stop and make an offering. You'll also pass locals at work in their trades and will see how tin and aluminium is hammered and furniture is made from hard mango wood. Your ride will take you through open plains and lush rice paddies as you head towards the forests and mountains that surround this area. The country roads at the base of a mountain range will bring you to the Sankampaeng Hot Springs. This is an original Thai experience.
