Myanmar is an extraordinary country that astounds travellers with its gorgeous array of sights, fascinating history, kind people and its laidback approach to life. Combine it all and you get a perfect location for your family to explore.
This trip is an action-packed seven days of cycling, kayaking, walking, eating and learning. Accompanied by knowledgeable local guides, you and your family will begin this journey from the beautiful Inle Lake. Your first full day begins early, so you can enjoy the fresh air, the misty hills, and, of course, the peaceful body of water. Eventually, you will swap to kayaks to paddle out and admire the stilt villages that thrive on the water here.
The diverse scenery on this trip is incredible and it gears up some more as you pedal through the misty hills in the highlands of the Shan state.
Every day includes something to excite the kids; one day includes a quick hike up the Mandalay Hill that incorporates a scavenger hunt. Young and old will enjoy this, and the awaiting cold drinks and prizes at the top. Sunsets in Myanmar are on another level and the one at Mandalay will capture your heart.
On the final stretch of the trip you will get to visit the remains of the former capital of Inwa. Ride around this charming spot, meet locals and learn more about art forms such as copper bowl making and mat weaving.
Eventually, this ride will lead to one of Myanmar’s most famous spots, the Bagan Plain. Home to the remains of more than 4,000 temples, stupas and pagodas, this picture perfect spot is incredible. After exploring the temples, a sunset boat ride on the Irrawaddy River with drinks and snacks is a perfect end to the final full day of exploring. There remain a few more hours on the last day to ride to the outskirts of Bagan and learn more about the village industries to cap off an amazing family cycling trip.
