Itinerary Details

  1. Day 1Christchurch to Kaikoura

An early start from the Christchurch Railway station begins a memorable journey via the rugged wild Pacific Coastline to Kaikoura. After a short transfer you to your hotel, in the afternoon you are at your own leisure. Local tour operators offer the chance to watch whales, dolphins, sea-birds and many other species of marine life on a daily basis; by boat, flight and by land. With wetsuits provided, visitors can even join dolphins and seals in their ocean environment. Kaikoura boasts a great selection of restaurants, also offering you local seafood.

  2. Day 2Kaikoura to Blenheim

After breakfast, you will continue your train journey to Blenheim. Blenheim is in the heart of New Zealand’s Marlborough district and is a busy town full of interesting shops and cafes. You will be met at the train station and transferred to the Marlborough Vintners Hotel, which is in the heart of wine country.  The local partner is based across the road where you can pop over for your bike fitting.

It’s time to head out on the bike for the first afternoon of wine tasting!  It’s a great time to hit up the ‘Golden Mile’ of wineries and great food.  Some wineries you will pass by are Matua, Allan Scott, Cloudy Bay, Wairau River and Nautilus Estate (also has great cheese platters).  If you’re ready for a pre-dinner drink that isn’t wine, pop across the road to the Gin Room, opposite the hotel.
