Few countries can combine majestic mountains and unspoilt coastlines quite like Vietnam does. To explore the contrasting sides of this Southeast Asian magical land is a magnificent opportunity. But to do it while gazing out from your bicycle, chasing sunsets and swooping views is something few other people will ever get to do.

Both the mountains and coastline are synonymous with the beauty of Vietnam and your journey begins in earnest after departing the bustling capital of Hanoi and head for the unique landscape of Ha Giang Province. Situated close to the border with China, this area is quite literally the final frontier and is seemingly untouched by tourism with numerous hill-tribes living along the route.

This could very well be the most stunning mountain bike riding you can imagine, as you tackle epic climbs to reach passes such as Heaven’s Gate -  so called because it provides the most sensational panoramic views.

It's a transformative ride with the first half conducted high up in the mountains making it more challenging, particularly when you climb the seemingly never-ending Ha Giang Plateau. You'll certainly reach the top and enjoy a feast as a reward.

Your biking adventure is unique in so many ways, particularly as it combines mountain riding in the remote regions of Vietnam and breezy rides along the coastline from historic Hue to the port town of Hoi An. To reach the sprawling coast you will take a flight to Hue before clambering back on your trusty bikes. This region is in stark contrast to the mountains you have departed and provides a different sense of beauty and a fresh atmosphere.

Diving into Hue’s deep history, ride off into picturesque fishing villages and waving locals. Picture-perfect moments crop up regularly as you stop at the mesmerizing Lang Co beach.

Squeeze in one last day trip of riding to My Son, the ancient center of Cham Civilization and home to the fascinating ruins of Hindu temples, before wrapping up this incredible adventure back in the pretty town of Hoi An.
