  • What's the tour like?

    Your bicycle journey will be on quiet back roads, tea estate tracks, dirt trails and gravel paths. You will cover 174 kilometers (108 miles) in 4 cycling days on mostly undulating terrain with steep hills and sharp turns. It will be an exciting ride with many nature and wildlife attractions to delve into, allowing you to truly enjoy this side of Sri Lanka.

    Featuring some of the finest terrain and scenery that Sri Lanka has to offer, you are sure to get the very best of a nature adventure from your cycling efforts.

    This ride is suitable for those who have some cycling experience. You should be confident of your physical condition and bike handling skills. Some climbs are challenging and there will be quite a few back roads and dirt tracks. The days will be hot and humid, so keep hydrated at all times. This is a true journey through nature with some wildlife thrown in along the way, so watch out at all times.

    The beginning of this ride is relatively flat, but there will be hills to ride through. The road surfaces are mixed: vehicle main roads, gravel paths, dirt trails, green tea estate tracks with some steep uphills and downhills and through the forest. A moderate physical condition is required for this tour. A support jeep is always available to help.

  • Are helmets required?

    A helmet is required to be worn on all biking activities and is non-negotiable. If you do not wear a helmet you won't be allowed to cycle.

  • Am I safe?

    The tour leader is trained in first aid and emergency rescue. But to a large degree, riders must be responsible for their own safety during the tour. It is therefore compulsory that you take out travel insurance that will cover you for a cycling tour.

  • Where does the tour start and end?

    The tour starts at the Goldi Sands Hotel, Negombo and ends in Colombo. The nearest airport for both arrival and departure is Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB).

  • If I'm traveling on my own, do I have to pay more?

    The tour operator does not require you to pay a surcharge for traveling alone. They will arrange for you to share accommodation with another traveler of the same gender and if they cannot match you up they will provide a single room at no extra charge. If you prefer not to share, a single supplement is payable to guarantee your own room.

  • Are helmets included when hiring a bike?

    Yes, if you're hiring a bike from the operator, a complimentary helmet is provided, although you are welcome to bring your own if you wish.
