Itinerary Details

  1. Day 1Ha Noi - Ha Long Bay

You'll be met at your Hanoi hotel early in the morning for a short transfer out of the city's busy roads. There will be a nice and easy start, cycling on a dyke of the Red River. As you ride towards Bac Ninh, known for the eight Kings of the Ly Dynasty, you'll see many examples of traditional architecture and agriculture practices.

Get energized with a local lunch at a temple, where you'll have enough time to take photos. Afterwards, you'll continue cycling through small villages that dot rural Vietnam.

The fun ends in the early afternoon with a transfer of 2.5 hours to the port city of Ha Long.

  2. Day 2Ha Long Bay - Cat Ba Island

Today's going to be different; this morning you'll board a traditional junk, an ancient Chinese sail boat design, and soon find yourself cruising on the emerald green waters of Ha Long Bay, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Leave your worries behind as you  sail by some of the more than 2,000 spectacular limestone islands scattered throughout the bay. Lunch is a gastronomic delight with the freshest seafood lunch while onboard.

Pretty soon you will reach Cat Ba island where you'll resume your cycling journey. From Gia Luan pier, you will bike on a winding road to Cat Ba National Park. It's a treat for the senses as you ride through a valley of tropical rain forest and hear the bird song of many species. Take a break for a short trek to the top of Ngu Lam mountain where a view of the green tree-covered limestone peaks greet you. It's back on the bikes for the final cycle to the hotel in Cat Ba town, which has views across the bay.

  3. Day 3Cat Ba Island - Hai Phong - Ha Noi

It's your last day but there's still so much to see and do! In the morning, cycle along the seaside to Phu Long village on the north west of Cat Ba Island. Along the way, take breaks to observe how the locals fish and see what they've caught. There's a chance to have a longer stop at the beach, too.

Upon reaching Cai Vieng pier, board a sampan, a flat-bottomed Chinese-style wooden boat. On this nifty ride, you'll be able to visit a salt marsh, a mangrove forest and then on to the recently discovered (1998) Thien Long cave. It's a real find, filled with many stalactites, an ancient tomb estimated to be 1,000 years old, and the root of a hundred-year-old tree growing on the top of the mountain.

After lunch, take the afternoon ferry to Hai Phong city where a vehicle is waiting to transfer you back to Hanoi for a late afternoon arrival.
