Vietnam is a land of stunningly varied landscapes: idyllic beaches in tranquil bays and stunning mountain scenery constantly compete for attention. Having endured years of colonialism, war and communism, Vietnam is opening up more areas to tourism and encouraging the outside world to discover a beautiful country and people. This tour invites you to discover the relatively unexplored northeast region of Vietnam, near the border with China where, until recently, you needed special permits to visit.

Aside from the majestic scenery, you'll spend two nights in ethnic villages – of the Nung and Tay - so you can see for yourself the differences among the customs of the different tribes. Your other overnight stays will range from an eco-lodge to standard hotel rooms to a valley-side resort, providing a nice mix of accommodation. This route takes you through a marvellous landscape of many breathtaking bends winding up mountains and down to quaint villages.

Other highlights of the tour include reaching the awesome Ma Pi Leng Pass (Heaven Gate), exploring Ba Be National Park, enjoying a tuk-tuk ride, experiencing traditional medicinal hot tubs and going through the flurry of a Sunday market.. Of course, the main feature of this trip is the exceptional mountain biking and you will not be disappointed by the fundamentally challenging but superbly gratifying route that has been crafted for your ultimate enjoyment.
