The Mae Hong Son area of northern Thailand is the country's remotest and most mountainous region. Close to the border of Myanmar, reflected in the diverse mix of hill tribes and the architecture of the region, the province of Mae Hong Son is a spectacular and unique place to visit and is still relatively undiscovered by many tourists. The fantastic mountainous landscape coupled with smooth tarmacked roads and a phenomenal loop of a route around this charming and mystical region makes this a road biking dream for those game enough for the challenge.

Starting in beautiful, historic Chiang Mai, you will ride anti-clockwise around the legendary Mae Hong Son Loop, passing through breathtaking scenery and testing your legs to the limit before arriving back in Chiang Mai nine days later. This region of Thailand is home to the tallest and toughest peaks in the country and will provide superb biking challenges for experienced and fit riders looking for their next adventure. Although the daily distance goals are not excessive, the climbs are not for the faint-hearted, so it is recommended that you have a high level of fitness if you want to fully enjoy the tour.

Aside from the riding, you'll also experience the warm and friendly hospitality of the ethnic tribes that populate this remote landscape and observe daily working life as you bike past rice fields, orchid and other flower farms, and through small mountain villages that dot the magnificent rocky scenery.

But the riding is the main star and focus of this rugged adventure. You will be guided through extraordinary and challenging vistas, culminating in reaching the so-called 'Summit of Thailand', located 2,565 m (8,415 ft) up the country's highest mountain, Doi Inthanon.
