Sri Lanka may be a small island, but it holds a big story—one best experienced from the saddle of a bike. Over 12 unforgettable days, you’ll explore the heart of the island on this classic ride, pedaling through the legendary cultural triangle where ancient Sinhalese kings built rock fortresses, temple-studded cities, and sophisticated irrigation systems.
Ride through sweeping tea-covered hills once cultivated by the British for their prized Ceylon tea, and venture into jungles teeming with wildlife, where elephants still roam free. Wind your way through vibrant countryside dotted with rice paddies, banana groves, coconut palms, and spice plantations bursting with cinnamon, turmeric, cardamom, and chilies—the foundation of Sri Lanka’s famously fragrant cuisine. This is a journey that leaves no leaf unturned, following the island’s spice trails to uncover its rich culture, landscapes, and flavours.
Starting on the palm-lined western coast in Negombo, you’ll head inland to explore cultural icons like the towering Sigiriya Lion Rock and the ancient city of Polonnaruwa. Quiet backroads lead you through a timeless rural landscape sustained by centuries-old reservoirs and canals. After a rest day in Kandy—home to Sri Lanka’s most sacred Buddhist shrine—you’ll ride into the misty tea highlands, climbing above 1,500 meters through scenic switchbacks and rolling hills.
The route then descends into the wilderness of Udawalawe National Park, where the bikes are swapped for jeeps for an up-close safari with Sri Lanka’s wild elephants. From there, ride on to the southern coast, passing cinnamon estates and banana farms before reaching the white-sand beaches of Mirissa and the storied walls of Galle Fort. The journey wraps up with a transfer to Colombo, Sri Lanka’s vibrant capital.
Experience the magic of Sri Lanka by bike—this is the ride of a lifetime.
