Tour Brief

A very scenic cycle featuring some of the region's favourite wineries, this is a truly great day out!

Your adventure starts with the wineries of Black Barn, Te Mata Estate and Akarangi Wines in Havelock North where the wine tasting starts early! With your first three winery visits under your belt, it is highly recommended to take a visit to the Origin Earth sample room to savour some of the best cheeses you’ll ever taste before departing Havelock North.

From here you enjoy a 16 km (10 mi) cycle along a limestone cycle trail through glorious landscapes, following the Tuki Tuki River to the coastal communities of Haumoana and Te Awanga. The views are stunning as you cycle the raised stop-bank trail, looking out over orchards, vineyards, cornfields and farmland.

Reaching the coast you’ll be ready to taste some more fine wine at Elephant Hill, Clearview Estate and Te Awanga Estate (summer only).  If lunch is on your ‘wish list’, the tour operator would be happy to assist with reservations at Clearview Estate. Te Awanga also offers the best pizzas in Hawkes Bay that’s best enjoyed while sitting outside on their green lawn.

NB:  Most wineries charge for tastings, this is payable direct.

Opening hours at wineries vary and some wineries are closed over winter months. Please check at the time of booking the number of wineries you should expect to find open.  Wherever possible the tour operator will advise of closures due to private functions; however, they cannot be held responsible for closures they have not been advised of.

At the end of the day you will be collected and transferred back to Ahuriri or your accommodation if required.
