Itinerary Details

  1. Day 1Bangkok - Kanchanaburi

You’ll be picked up from Bangkok and transferred about 2.5 hours to your cycling start point in Tha Maka, Kanchanaburi Province. Your ride begins near the Mae Klong River, one of Central Thailand’s most important waterways. Ride north along well-paved roads through expansive countryside dotted with rice paddies, and take a break under a giant raintree with its sprawling canopy.

Follow the Khwae Noi River north into Kanchanaburi city to see the iconic Bridge over the River Kwai, a lasting symbol of the WW2 era when Allied prisoners of war were forced to build the infamous “Death Railway.” The bridge remains operational today. Nearby, visit the War Cemetery, the final resting place of thousands of prisoners who perished during the railway’s construction.

After lunch, cycle a short distance to a charming riverside hotel for the night.

  2. Day 2Kanchanaburi - Khwae Noi River

Your ride today begins on the agrarian plains of the Khwae Yai River, passing fields of rice, sugarcane, and cassava. As you pedal onward, the jungle-clad Tenasserim Hills that have loomed in the distance draw ever closer. Around the 40 km mark, you reach the edge of the wilderness, with the densely forested hills of Sai Yok National Park stretching beside you.

A 10 km stretch along the shoulder of a main provincial road leads to a short downhill that brings you to the banks of the Khwae Noi River, where your ride ends at a pier. From here, board a longtail boat and cruise upstream to a secluded, elegant resort surrounded by lush jungle, misty hills, and cliffs towering over the river.

The afternoon is yours to relax by the pool, enjoy a Thai massage, hike to a nearby cave, or float on a bamboo raft in the river. Lunch and dinner are provided at the resort, while any extra activities are at your own expense.

  3. Day 3Khwae Noi River - Suan Phueng

With your legs warmed up, it’s time to tackle the challenge! Leaving the hotel along a narrow forestry road, you ride through farmlands, villages, and Buddhist temples of the Khwae Noi River plains. After about 35 km, you turn west onto bumpier roads, approaching the remote, mountainous frontier between Thailand and Myanmar.

For the next 70 km, wild forests, fruit orchards, sugarcane fields, and oil palm plantations line your path, while a steady succession of 3–5% climbs tests your stamina on the rolling hills. The final stretch slopes gently downhill, offering a refreshing finish as you roll into Suan Phueng, a quiet corner of western Thailand rarely visited by foreigners.

Spend the night at a simple yet comfortable Thai-style rural retreat, breathing the crisp highland air and enjoying beautiful views of the surrounding landscape.

  4. Day 4Suan Phueng - Phetchaburi

Today offers a truly delightful day in the saddle. You’ll ride smoothly paved rural roads with minimal traffic, covering just over 100 km with gentle climbs, fully immersing yourself in the Thai countryside. From Suan Phueng, you head south along the edge of the Tenasserim Hills, the rocky spine stretching nearly 2,000 km from northern Myanmar to the southern Thai peninsula.

The terrain is mildly undulating, with no climbs too long or steep, though the occasional punchy hill will have you shifting into lower gears. Breaks come every 20–25 km at local Buddhist temples or quiet countryside spots, including a scenic viewpoint over the Huai Tha Khoi Reservoir at the 50 km mark. Part of today’s route follows an annual amateur cycling race, giving you a local badge of honor along the way!

After roughly 100 km, you enter Phetchaburi Province, cruising past wetlands before finishing along flat country roads at tonight’s tranquil upcountry retreat.

  5. Day 5Phetchaburi - Kaeng Krachan

Your day begins with a fast-paced 20 km dash down a main provincial road with a dedicated bicycle path—a rare find in Thailand! You then turn onto a quiet side road leading toward Kaeng Krachan, Thailand’s largest national park, rising ahead as a rugged, jungle-clad expanse.

Ride through gently undulating rural roads at the edge of the wilderness, surrounded by untamed forests and lush farmlands. Around the 50 km mark, you reach the massive Kaeng Krachan Reservoir, cycling along its embankments with views of shimmering waters and small islands—the tops of hills submerged when the dam was built.

After another 50 km of blissful cycling through this verdant region, the day ends. Smaller groups may stay at a cosy ecolodge on the grounds of the Wildlife Friends Foundation Thailand (WFFT), home to hundreds of rescued animals cared for by experts and volunteers. Larger groups or when availability is limited will stay at a favourite rural resort—either way, the riding distance remains the same.

  6. Day 6Kaeng Krachan - Hua Hin

If you start the day at a resort in Kaeng Krachan, enjoy a gentle 20 km ride to the Wildlife Friends Foundation Thailand (WFFT). If you stayed at the WFFT ecolodge, there’s no morning ride. At 9:00 AM, join a guided tour of Thailand’s largest wildlife rescue centre. Knowledgeable staff will show you around enclosures home to elephants, bears, gibbons, and many more animals given a second chance after rescue from poaching or harmful tourism.

The tour concludes with a buffet lunch, after which you’re back in the saddle for an afternoon ride to the bustling beach town of Hua Hin. Highlights include scenic lakes and sprawling pineapple plantations, the region’s signature fruit. Traffic may pick up as you near Hua Hin, but soon you’ll be rewarded with views of the azure Gulf of Thailand at your elegant seaside resort. Dinner tonight is at your leisure, with plenty of options to choose from.

For your cool-down ride, enjoy one of the favourite road biking loops around Hua Hin. You’ll leave town via main roads and cycling paths, then ride through farmlands to reach Pranburi Beach about 25 km into the day. Cycle along a quiet beach road, following the tropical shoreline and pausing for refreshments before heading inland.

Follow peaceful secondary roads through the countryside, passing clusters of oil palm trees, expansive farm fields in various stages, and the occasional curious cow. There are a few gentle undulations, but nothing steeper than a 4% incline. Around 80 km, join a larger road and ride the shoulder back into Hua Hin.

Arrive in the early afternoon with plenty of time to lounge by the pool, hit the beach, enjoy a Thai massage, or explore the town’s shops. In the evening, gather for a farewell dinner.
