Join an 11-day tour stretching through three countries – Germany, the Czech Republic and Poland – where much important European history from the last century was written, and embark on a fascinating tour. This tour starts in the German capital of Berlin and ends in Krakow, perhaps the most beautiful city in Poland. On the way, you will pass through a wooded region full of natural lakes south of Berlin as well as countless other naturally splendid spots. Aside from the historic old towns and ancient architecture on display in some of the fine cities along the route, you'll also encounter castles, ruins, abbeys and monuments, pass by lakes, hills, national park vistas and ultimately discover three remarkable countries you'll never forget.

  • Where does the tour start and end?

The tour starts in Berlin, Germany and ends in Krakow, Poland. Berlin is serviced by Berlin Tegel Airport (TXL), not too far from the city centre and your accommodation in Berlin. Public transportation and reasonably priced taxi services are available from the airport to the city.

Krakow is serviced by John Paul II International Airport (KRK), about 7 miles (11 km) west of the city. Apart from taxi services, there are train and bus public transportation services available to the city.

  • How long is the tour? How many days riding?

The tour is 11 days long with 8 days riding.

  • What's the tour like?

For full enjoyment of the trip, you should come prepared to complete the 60-80 km / 40-55 mile days comfortably on flat and gently rolling terrain. Most of the hilly terrain occurs during the last four days of the trip.

The tour operator has tried to design the route along small, quiet, and picturesque roads with as little car traffic as possible and/or bike paths that enhance your sightseeing of the local areas. With the exception of a few short sections of firmly packed dirt, all the roads and bike paths are paved, which means that the trip is suitable for road bikes as well as hybrids.

  • Can I rent a bike for the tour?

Yes. The tour operator has the following fully serviced, light, quality road/fitness bikes available:

Fuji Absolute 2, 3, and 4, flat handlebars
Fuji Newest 1 and 2, drop handlebars
        Fuji Roubaix 1.3, drop handlebars

Your rental bike comes with a rear luggage rack, bungie cord, extra tube and levers, water bottle cage, pump, lock, and odometer. The price for renting a bike for this tour is $200 USD for Fuji Absolute or $270 USD for Fuji Newest and Fuji Roubaix.

  • What's the deal with food on the tour?

Breakfast every day is included on the tour. Lunches are not provided but the SAG van will supply you with water and snacks (e.g., cookies, fruit, nuts) throughout the day.

Cyclists usually do not eat big lunches, however, you are always welcome to stop in a restaurant and have a more substantial meal if you wish. In the evening, there is either a group dinner, which can be a buffet style or carefully selected meal menus, usually allowing you to choose from several choices.

Some evenings, in places where the selection is extensive, you may have dinner on your own to have a rest from us :-) and try something on your own, however, the tour operator will always give you recommendations for good places to eat.

In any case, food is one of the things the tour operator is very proud of. They have invested a lot of time in locating the best possible options for you and that applies to various “national” and local dishes as well as those of an international cuisine.

  • If I'm travelling alone, will I have to pay more?

All prices are based on 2 people sharing a room so yes, there will be an additional charge levied if you are travelling solo, to compensate for the higher cost of accommodation. This will also apply if you are travelling in a group but you would like your own room throughout the tour.

  • Please read here for a message from the tour operator regarding Covid-19:

Due to the coronavirus pandemic we were forced to cancel all our tours this year. Nevertheless, we are already getting ready for the 2021 season, the 16th season of running bike tours in Europe for you, and we are pleased to report that our schedule for next year has been finalized. The bike touring industry is expecting a huge boom next year, provided we all overcome this unfortunate pandemic situation. So register early to avoid missing out. To make it easier for you, we offer full refund of all deposits paid until February 28th, 2021. We hope to see you on the road again next year.

I had a fantastic time on the bike tour! Overall the accommodations far exceeded my expectations. The food was especially delicious as was of course the beer and wine.
Great job with the weather, Ludek.

Thanks again for a job well done.

It was a great trip. I enjoyed every minute of it. The route was perfect and the hotels and food were good. When I travel I want to go off the beaten track and see what a country is really like. I feel we did that. All three countries were beautiful and historically very interesting. I'm looking forward to doing another trip with you one day.
