Itinerary Details

  1. Day 1Arrive in Beaune

    Arriving in the wine capital, the city of Beaune, you have a little time to explore this city and some of its treasures including the Hotel Dieu (hospices) before or after your arrival orientation in the evening. Dinner on your own in town, and free time to visit. Your hotel is a centrally located 3-star hotel. Wine tastings and guided programs are available when booked in advance.

  2. Day 2Beaune – Chassey le Camp

    After Breakfast, you will start your bike ride through the vineyards on a bike path passing through wine making villages: Pommard, Volnay, and the Grands Crus vineyards (Montrachet, Batard Montrachet… ). Many wine tasting options all along the way until Santenay. Then a short portion of the cycling path alongside the canal, before you reach your destination situated at the beginning of the Cote Chalonnaise. Your hotel offers outside swimming pool and inside pool!

  3. Day 3Chassey le Camp – Dracy Le Fort

    After breakfast, you will cycle through small countryside routes to join another cycling track alongside the “Canal du Centre” to reach Chagny, pass near Rully (winemaker village) and Chalon Sur Saone area. Dracy Le Fort is a small village on the border of the Côte Chalonnaise vineyards.

  4. Day 4Dracy le Fort – Cluny

    After breakfast, you will join the “Green Way" in Givry (winemaking village producing favourite red wine of the French king Henri IV). This bike path is built on an ancient rail line which was the first bike path of France. You will appreciate the peaceful and lovely roman architecture in Buxy, St Gengoux Le National, Malay. Arrive in Cormatin, perfect place to have lunch and have a visit to the castle before you head up to Cluny. The Abbey of Cluny and the stud farm will be another must visit.

  5. Day 5Cluny – Macon

    After breakfast, you will get back on the cycling path to ride until Macon. The landscape starts to be hillier even if you ride on the easy cycling path. On the road, the Castle of Berze Le Chatel is such a romantic place to visit, the lovely view from the road will invite you to do a detour for a short visit. You will also cross the longest European tunnel open for cyclist and continue the ride through the Val Lamartinien with gorgeous views of the Solutre Rock.
