Itinerary Details

  1. Day 1Travel to Hawke’s Bay

    Make your way to the base in Ahuriri, Napier. You may drive directly or if flying in, a complimentary shuttle is available to pick you up from the Hawke's Bay Airport.

    After a tour briefing and bike fit, you'll be transported to the start of your cycling adventure at 12:00PM. If your arrival in Ahuriri is after 12:00PM, riding will start the next day.

  2. Day 2Water Ride

    The Water Ride is a flat and easy ride which meanders along rivers and coastal roads. Start off the day at 9:00AM or 12:00PM with a transfer to Puketapu Pub, a classic Kiwi country pub with great food and cold beers! Cycle inland along river trails to Taradale where you can visit 2 popular wineries, Mission Estate and Church Road Winery.

    A trip to Hawke's Bay won't be complete without passing through the protected Ahuriri Estuary and it's trails which have some of the most scenic views. This part of the region serves as a habitat for many endangered species and has a diverse array of flora and fauna. Cycle further north to Bayview and enjoy the scenic coastal roads and fresh ocean breeze.

  3. Day 3Landscapes Ride

    It's a landscape filled with wineries as you head for vineyard country today. Start the day with a delicious breakfast and meet the tour operator at their base in Ahuriri mid-morning. Set up your bikes again and pedal off into your third day of exploring Hawke's Bay.

    Head for the south of Hawke's Bay via off-road trails while taking in more incredible views of the ocean. Today's ride will mostly be on coastal roads with some glimpses of orchards and vineyards along the way. The changing scenery will keep you on your toes!

    A cluster of wineries await at Cape Kidnappers - Elephant Hill Winery, Clearview Winery and Te Awanga Estate Vineyard. Take your pick for wine tastings or visit them all!

    Lunch booking today will be at the gorgeous Clearview Winery (cost to be paid direct to winery). A shuttle van can pick you up at 4:00PM for a transfer back to your accommodation.

  4. Day 4Tukituki Loop

    It's a loop day as you follow the Tukituki trail. After a filling breakfast, meet the tour operator in Ahuriri at 10:00AM to catch the shuttle to Havelock North where your riverside and winery expedition begins.

    The trail is mostly flat and with half the time on road and the other half on pathways. Enjoy the majestic views of vineyards and gently sloping hills as you cycle leisurely. Along the way you can visit Craggy Range Winery, Te Mata Estate Winery and Black Barn Vineyards & Bistro for wine tastings. Rated as the best one day ride in New Zealand, the Tukituki Loop trail will not disappoint.

    Lunch booking is included at the premium Craggy Range. A shuttle van can pick you up at 4:00PM for a transfer back to your accommodation.

  5. Day 5Wineries Ride and Departure

    Save the best for last as you visit at least 4 wineries today. Meet at the Ahuriri base again at 10:00AM to catch the shuttle going to Clive. The cycle begins along riverside trails and vineyard surroundings until you reach Bridge Pa.

    The western side of Hawke's Bay is where you will find Gimblett Gravels, a wine-growing district and home to a cluster of wineries. Take your pick from Sileni Estate Winery, Abbey Estate, Oak Estate Wines, Unison Vineyard & Café and Stonecoft Wines. Lunch booking for today will be at the stylish Oak Estate (cost to be paid direct to winery). If this day is a Sunday, a visit to the Farmers Market is included.

    After lunch, a transfer is available to bring you back to Ahuriri by 3:00PM for your onward travel plans. Airport transfers can also be arranged if needed.
