UK Cycling Holiday: E-Bike the Lake District

I had the pleasure of cycling through the Lakes District [...] and having completed it, there is one thing I can say for sure, there is no better way to visit and see the Lakes than via bike.

Having the e-bikes made it easy for me (a cycling novice) to keep up with my more experienced travel companion. The cycle routes were balanced with easy cycling and more challenging aspects (I will forever view Kirkstone Pass with trepidation ahaha) where you received another stunning view as a reward. Phil’s thorough and detailed knowledge of the Lakes put into the tour really showed off the best of the Lakes from quaint towns, farm side lanes, to vibrant railroad paths.

Truely a memorable experience I will remember for years to come.

We did the [...] tour in June 2025 and had an amazing time. The scenery is fantastic, even on rainy days, and we had great accommodation. The e-bikes and equipment were of a very high standard, but most importantly the service we got from Phil was exceptional, he really went above and beyond to make sure everything went smoothly and that we had a great time. If I come back to the UK and do another trip, I will phone Phil and see what other trips he could put together for us to ride the beautiful lake district. Excellent service from Phil. He arrived early, sent routes, spent time explaining how the bikes work, guided us on where to go, how to stay safe and more. Couldn't have asked for more and the ebikes themselves were like new, in top working order. Thank you for making our trip to the lakes that extra bit more memorable and special. Cheers.

If I could give [the ground operator] 10 stars, I would, as I can't recommend them enough. Phil is incredibly accommodating, he has thought of every detail, and went above and beyond for us. When he describes his tours as supported, he means it. Not only does he plan jaw droppingly beautiful routes, and finds really lovely places to stay, his restaurant and site seeing stops are spot on. And of course, he does all of the other things that an excellent supported tour does: all of the equipment you need (including rain gear, locks, paniers, Garmin, etc), available for guidance, a pre- tour orientation and over view.  In addition to all of this, Phil just goes above and beyond. He checked the weather every day and was in touch with alternate plans if it was raining too much, including picking us up mid ride because the weather had gotten too bad. In our last day he even helped us find and get to healthcare when one of us fell sick in the last day. Just because he is a good person.

My husband and I just returned from a trip to the UK with three other family members.  I can't say enough about the excellent support provided by Phil for our cycling adventure in the Lake District. The accommodations were very comfortable, the bikes were easy to use (great for hills), the maps took us to interesting and beautiful places along quiet country roads but Phil makes it all amazing.  He was helpful and responsive, concerned about everyone's experience, had advice about stops for coffee, or great places to stop and made the trip exceptional. I hope that we'll be back soon!

We had a fantastic trip with [the ground operator]! We did the “e-bike the Lake District” route in late April. The weather was perfect for riding-partly sunny and just the right temperature. It didn’t rain until we completed the route and were at our final destination-thank you Phil ;)

Phil provided excellent routes and accommodations, as well as support when we needed it. The routes were well described and easy to follow. Each route was well planned with multiple possible stops for snacks, meals, beverages and sightseeing. The scenery was incredible and varied! Phil also provided shorter route options if we wanted to take it easy on any particular day.

The accommodations were very comfortable and welcoming. All were within easy walks to amenities and/or had restaurants/pubs on site. All provided breakfast. We especially liked the Appletree Guest House in Keswick-beautiful house, excellent host and breakfast, as well as being close to town.This was my second trip on an e-bike and, while the bike was heavier than my non-e-bike, it was powerful enough to handle the steepest hills along the trip easily. The bikes were in excellent condition and Phil took the time to fit the bikes to each of us.
