Itinerary Details

  1. Day 1Meet in Hue

Your journey begins in Hue, the former capital of Vietnam during the Nguyen Dynasty. You can fly directly to Hue from Saigon or Hanoi, or land in Danang and transfer to Hue. In the early afternoon, we’ll gather for an introduction to the Nguyen Dynasty at the Imperial Citadel. Inspired by China’s Forbidden City but infused with a distinct Vietnamese character, the Citadel remains an impressive site. Despite the damage it sustained during the Tet Offensive, its series of moats, immaculate grounds, and remaining structures offer a vivid glimpse into the royal family’s life at the height of their reign. You'll wrap up the day with a traditional Vietnamese dinner, where your guide will share insights to set the tone for the journey ahead.

This morning marks the first bike ride of the trip! After a short transfer, your guide will introduce you to your two-wheeled companion. Soon, it’s time to set off, pedaling through the atmospheric city and its scenic surroundings. Monuments of Vietnam’s imperial past reveal themselves as you wind through tree-lined lanes and elevated paths across fertile rice paddies. Discover the sprawling and magnificent tomb complex of Emperor Minh Mang—a true palace for the afterlife—before crossing the picturesque Perfume River by small ferry. Visit the 17th-century Thien Mu Pagoda, perched majestically above the river, and return to the city by late afternoon. After a day full of exploration, savour a well-earned dinner featuring local specialties.

  3. Day 3Hue Countryside

This morning, cycle through Hue’s lush countryside, following a mix of footpaths and quiet country lanes to the traditional village of Phuoc Tich. The ride weaves through rustic farmland and bustling local markets, passing a Catholic village where locals cultivate rice, mushrooms, and peanuts, craft colorful incense sticks, and create handicrafts from bamboo and long grasses. Phuoc Tich, the day’s destination, is a village rich in history, with homes dating back 200 years built in traditional feng shui style. Explore these ancient houses and uncover the cultural significance of this charming community.

In the afternoon, a 45-minute transfer brings you back to Hue. Tonight, dinner is at your leisure—an excellent chance to dive into Hue’s culinary scene and discover hidden gems. The city is especially captivating at night, with the riverside and the old quarter near the palace offering a beautiful setting for an evening stroll.

  4. Day 4Hue - Lang Co

Check out of the hotel this morning and take a short 15-minute drive to the outskirts of Hue, where the bikes await. The route winds along canals and rivers, leading into the estuary of the Perfume River—a quieter region dotted with farming and fishing villages. Soon, the path arrives at the fascinating “Ghost City,” a collection of elaborate and ornate mausoleums built to honor ancestors. Many of these grand structures are funded by Vietnamese expatriates, their artistry creating a striking contrast against the surrounding rice fields, woods, and wetlands.

The ride continues through the peaceful countryside, ending by the shores of Vietnam’s largest lagoon, where locals cultivate oysters and fish. After soaking in the dramatic views, transfer the final 40 km to Lang Co Beach Resort for lunch. The remainder of the day is yours to enjoy—relax on the beach, unwind at the spa, or simply savour the resort’s tranquil atmosphere.

From Lang Co, begin with a 15km loop around the picturesque Lap An Lagoon, framed by mountains and dotted with oyster farms. Next, take on the iconic Hai Van Pass, a major highlight for cyclists in Vietnam! Follow smooth tarmac as you climb nearly 500 metres over 10 winding kilometres, enjoying spectacular views of the blue South China Sea, jungle-covered headlands and sandy beaches. Take a breather at the summit before enjoying a thrilling 10km descent into Da Nang, Vietnam’s third-largest city.

To avoid the heavy traffic, you’ll travel by support vehicle to a favourite local restaurant in town for lunch. In the afternoon, enjoy a gentle ride through Da Nang’s southern outskirts, passing the famous Marble Mountains before arriving in Hoi An, Vietnam’s much-loved UNESCO World Heritage-listed town.

Once a major maritime trading centre, Hoi An is known for its beautifully preserved architecture, reflecting Vietnamese, Chinese, Japanese, Portuguese and French influences. You’ll spend the next two nights here, giving you plenty of time to explore the sights and soak up the atmosphere of this lively community, which has retained its festive spirit, vibrancy and entrepreneurial character. Eventually, you’ll arrive at My Son, the ancient capital of the Cham civilisation, which ruled this region until around 500 years ago. Although some of the temples were destroyed by American bombing, many remain, offering a glimpse into the prosperity and artistic achievements of the Champa Kingdom. Enjoy lunch before exploring the archaeological site on foot.
