You’ll cover approximately 640–670 km over 7 cycling days, riding well-paved roads that make for smooth, enjoyable pedaling as you explore western Thailand’s diverse landscapes—from lush farmlands and national parks to serene riversides, rolling hills, and the palm-fringed Gulf of Thailand coastline. With the exception of the transfer out of Bangkok on Day 1, all rides are hotel-to-hotel.
Days 1 and 2 are mostly flat and under 70 km, giving you a gentle warm-up while visiting WW2 memorials and enjoying Kanchanaburi’s charming riverside resorts. Days 3 to 5 feature longer distances of 100–130 km over undulating terrain, with gradual climbs, occasional short bursts of steeper gradients, and refreshing descents. Day 6 is a special out-of-the-saddle experience at the Wildlife Friends Foundation Thailand (WFFT), where you’ll meet rescued animals. On Day 7, enjoy a cool-down loop around the coastal region of Hua Hin. There’s no formal rest day, but afternoons generally allow time for R&R at your well-appointed hotels and resorts. This tour is as much about experiencing the beauty of remote western Thailand as it is about testing your endurance on a road bike, finishing with two nights by the beach.
The tour is fully supported, with your guide providing expert knowledge of the terrain, distances, and daily challenges. Water and refreshments are available along the way, ensuring you can focus on the ride.
Suitability: This tour is ideal for experienced road cyclists comfortable with back-to-back riding days. The average daily distance is around 90 km, with the longest day at 128 km and the shortest at 66 km. The 7-day sequence provides a gentle two-day warm-up, three challenging hilly days, and two milder cool-down days. While there are hills each day, most climbs are short (3–5 km) with moderate gradients of 3–5%, making the route accessible even for those less keen on long ascents. The main challenge is maintaining stamina over consecutive days and coping with the tropical heat. Less experienced riders are welcome but should prepare in advance to ride the full distances. A support vehicle follows the group for luggage, supplies, and refreshments, but passenger seats are limited, so you should plan to ride each day.
Biking Conditions: Most of the route is on excellently paved roads suited to road bikes. You’ll ride some of Thailand’s most coveted cycling routes, largely unknown to international riders. Quiet secondary roads are prioritized, but occasional stretches on busier main roads and narrow country lanes with potholes, debris, or gravel are included. Traffic can be unpredictable, especially near towns and cities. The tour is planned outside the wettest months, but showers can occur anytime; rides generally continue rain or shine, with adjustments made based on guide discretion or rider comfort. During the dry season, agricultural burnings can create haze in some areas, affecting air quality and visibility, particularly in March and April, which are avoided on this tour.
Good combination of experiencing a country beyond tourist spots while getting exercise in the sport you love.

A Spiceroads tour was a great way to see Thailand on my first trip there. I can't wait to return! Bottle is a great guide, I would hope to see him again.
