  • Where does the tour start and end?

The tour starts and ends in Bodrum, Turkey, although you will be spending most of the tour within the borders of Greece, sailing around the Greek islands.

Milas-Bodrum Airport (BJV) is the closest to Bodrum and is the easiest way to get into Bodrum/Turkey. Another option is İzmir Adnan Menderes Airport (ADB) which is approximately three hours away from Bodrum.

    Arriving at Bodrum Harbor

On arrival at Bodrum harbor, you will need to find the ship. Bodrum harbor is very large. Therefore the tour operator recommends booking a transfer from the airport to the harbor and save yourself the time looking for the boat. The transfer is available on embarkation and disembarkation days only and has an additional fee.

Check-in time on board begins at 2 pm. The boat’s exact location in the port is not decided until the actual day of embarkation.

If you are having trouble locating the boat, please contact the regional manager,  Ali Sonay, shortly before arriving at the harbor and he will tell you the exact location of the boat you are looking for. You will find his mobile phone number in the travel documents to be provided.

  • How long is the tour? How many days cycling?

The tour is 8 days long with 6 days of biking. Most days are spent cycling in the mornings with a cruise in the afternoon. See the itinerary for specifics.

  • What's the tour like? What sort of ability should I have?

Aside from two challenging cycle tours on Kalymnos and Kos, this trip can be counted as one of the less difficult trips by the Tour Operator. The cycling routes require a basic level of fitness, which you should have acquired through regular cycling. The routes can reach an altitude of 200 to 500 meters. The daily routes of around 20 – 45 km/12 – 28 mi. will take you up through hilly and mountainous terrain and can be completed without time constraints. You will also come across some longer and rather steep climbs, where walking your bike is of course permitted.

Participants will also need to master long and steep climbs, during which they are, however, also permitted to push their bicycles. Upon consultation with your tour guides, it may be possible for you to cycle on your own along suitable, recommended routes.

On regular cycling tours, the cyclists on regular bicycles determine the pace. Guests are who have reserved an e-bike are asked to be mindful of this and to acknowledge that the regular cyclists need time to rest and take longer to climb the hills. We thank you for your understanding.

  • Are helmets compulsory?

Helmets are mandatory on our bike tours. It is advised to bring your own, well fitted, helmet with you as our rental helmet numbers are limited (reservation required).

  • Can I bring my own bike?

The Tour Operator discourages guests from bringing their own bike due to costly and risky transport.

The bikes often get damaged during the transport and taxis are often unwilling to transport bicycle boxes. In addition, it is also difficult to store the boxes on the boat during the week.

Should you, however, wish to bring your own hybrid bicycle with you, please make sure to check the condition of your brakes, gears, and tires and don’t forget to bring along a puncture repair kit and the essential spare parts for your bike (e.g. brake pads and tubes). Your bike should be in perfect mechanical working order.

The tour operator does not allow private e-bikes on board of the boats. This decision has been made due to health and safety regulations. If you wish to ride an e-bike for the duration of your tour, please select the rental option.

Liability disclaimer: The tour operator will not be held liable for any damages caused to private bikes during loading, unloading or other logistical handling thereof.

  • What's the food like on the ship?

Special dietary requirements (lactose free/gluten free/vegan) can be accommodated for an additional fee of EUR70. This must be communicated in advance and payable on board the ship.

The food served on board is traditional and characteristic for the country. Higher nutritional demands of bikers are taken into account.

The on-board chef is a member of the crew and prepares the breakfast and one warm meal a day.

The catering consist of half board and starts with dinner on embarkation day and ends with breakfast on disembarkation day. Lunch could be packed or a picnic as well.

Breakfast on board generally includes bread, butter, cheese, ham, coffee and tea. For lunch or dinner (according to program) the chef generally serves light fish or meat dishes or vegetarian meals. A dessert might occasionally be served for dinner.

If you wish to eat vegetarian food or have distinctly different eating habits please inform us in time before your arrival. Please keep in mind that special food requirements cannot always be met in all details.

If you have extensive food allergies we ask you to give us a list of the food that you can eat. This should be done before your arrival so that the cook can be instructed to plan and shop accordingly.

In the case of a gluten free diet, we request that you bring along your own basic foodstuffs.

  • Is WiFi available onboard?

The Turkish boats do not offer a WiFi connection. If you need to connect to the internet during the tour, the tour operator recommends you take a portable wifi to a cafe or bar somewhere in the harbor. Free WiFi is on offer almost everywhere. If you order something to eat or drink, then you are able to use the WiFi to your heart's content.

  • What is a Greek transit fee?

Greek authorities have imposed a fee on ships departing from Turkey and sailing within the country's waters. The EUR250.00/person/trip fee will be added automatically to your booking.
