The Kokopelli Trail

Duration
5 days
From
$1,462 USD

With long mileage and two days of moderately technical singletrack, The Kokopelli Trail is perfect for riders looking for a challenge and an epic mountain bike adventure. The legend of Kokopelli begins near present-day Grand Junction, Colorado (195-miles west of Denver), at the confluence of the Colorado and Gunnison rivers. Known in Native American cultures as a trickster god and/or a fertility deity, Kokopelli could shape-shift into numerous forms. You will follow and visually interpret Kokopelli’s walkabout, a supernatural quest to spread prosperity and fertility. If you’ve heard or read about the superb mountain biking near Fruita, Colorado (northwest of Grand Junction), here’s your chance to live and breathe it.

First-Class Camping - the food tastes better, the sky is certainly bigger, and your mind is clearer.

There is nothing better than rolling into camp to fresh-made chips and salsa, homemade guacamole, and Dutch oven enchiladas. Then make your way to a sweet and inviting campfire, sharing your favorite anecdote or image from the day’s activities while marshmallows roast. Enjoy a small-batch, local beer before retiring to your tent. Inside: a sturdy raised cot, fluffy sleeping bag, and a plush full-size pillow. Wow. You earned this. Sweet dreams.

All camping on this trip is in campsites with no running water and pit toilets. There are no shower facilities, but solar showers will be available. Cell phone service is only available when in Moab.

Camping gear may be rented or you may bring your own. All of the camping gear is tested and hand-chosen from top manufacturers to ensure you get a good night’s sleep. The camp gear package includes a tent, sleeping pad, raised cot, sleeping bag, sleeping bag liner, full-size pillow, and ground tarp.

The campsites at Fisher Valley and Castle Valley are over 7,000 ft (2133m). Please keep this in mind when packing nighttime gear.•It may be the desert, but nights are cold out there. Bring layers!
