The banks of the Loire River and its tributaries the Cher and the Indre are home to some of the finest examples of chateaux in France. The attractions of the region aren't limited to stone and mortar, however. The riverbanks are lined with the vineyards of many fine wine domains, and the local cuisine includes specialities such as cheeses, mushrooms and river fish, creating a region treasured for its gourmet delights.

This cycling route takes in all of the famed chateaux of the Loire; you will also visit other attractions including Leonardo da Vinci’s home, the Clos Luce, at Amboise, and the ‘trogolodyte’ houses carved out of the soft tufa rock along its banks. The cycling is gentle, following rivers, quiet tree-lined roads and forest tracks.

Your Loire Valley journey also takes in the fabulous chateaux of the Renaissance: elegant Chenonceau, imposing Chaumont, stately Cheverney and majestic Chambord. You will also visit the medieval gem that is the town of Loches. The riding is over gently rolling countryside, with just a few hills to help you work up an appetite! The route is split between quiet roads through fields of sunflowers and maize, passing castles, windmills and manor houses, and hard-surfaced tracks through the royal hunting forests of Loches and Chambord.

An incredibly active journey into real France, with food, wine and accommodation experiences that you will remember for a long time. Fully guided, with a support vehicle never far away, you can enjoy as much food and wine as you like!
