Exodus TravelsThis self-guided journey from the Dolomites to Venice takes you through the captivating regions of South Tyrol and Veneto.
South Tyrol, with 300 days of sunshine a year, is a timeless bilingual region where Italy meets Austria. Here, the jagged peaks of the UNESCO-listed Dolomites rise above emerald meadows, creating a dramatic alpine landscape. Veneto, by contrast, is a treasure trove of art cities, UNESCO World Heritage Sites, and rolling vineyards.
Start your ride along the old narrow-gauge Dolomites railway track, passing beneath the iconic Tre Cime before reaching the Olympic town of Cortina d’Ampezzo. The route winds through Belluno, famously known as the valley of ice cream makers, and continues to Bassano del Grappa, where the mountains give way to the plains and the architectural masterpieces of Andrea Palladio come into view. From there, cycle to the elegant city of Treviso before concluding the tour in mainland Venice, the gateway to the enchanting ‘Floating City’.
Most of the cycling follows dedicated tarmac paths, often winding alongside rivers. Where connections between towns and villages are needed, quiet lanes have been chosen to keep you off busy roads, ensuring a safe and relaxed ride for the majority of the journey.
